Romophos is a sophomore class honorary at The Ohio State University. Committed to service, scholarship, and leadership, Romophos members make a difference at Ohio State and in the Columbus community. The organization was founded in March of 1932 by the members of that year’s graduating class to form a link between the freshman and sophomore classes, and to aid in service projects. The name, Romophos, is derived from the word “sophomore” (just spell it backwards!). Romophos has been inducting new classes of Rocks into the honorary since 1932. Romophos’ primary event during the school year is to put on “Battle of the Bands,” a competition of local bands, held at the Newport Music Hall, benefiting Ronald McDonald House.
